Why is the NOMAIL checkbox checked on some Mailman subscribers?

The "nomail" checkbox indicates that the user has probably temporarily disabled delivery. If an email address does not exist or is otherwise non-deliverable, the bounce message is handled by the Mailman software, and the user is removed after three successive bounces. At that point, the list manager will receive an email notification of the unsubscribe.
