How do I set up SendStudio?
Bulk E-mail and Mailing List Programs:SendStudio is the only web-based bulk-email system that we allow. First, you must comply with all our bulk email policies. The use of SendStudio on the shared system is dependent upon following the guidelines provided below.
Please note: Modwest still advises the use of Mailman lists for a subscribription list of under 1000 members and Listserv for a subscription list over 1000 members.
Installing SendStudio:
Follow the instructions found in the SendStudio Installation guide with the following Modwest-specific alterations:
Step 1. Uploading Files
If you are having trouble uploading your files, please read the applicable FAQ on FTP access: Upload and edit files FAQ.
Step 2. File Permissions
You do not need file permissions of 777 -- 755 will do fine.
Step 3. MySQL Database
Your database server is 'db.yourdomain.com'.
Steps 4 & 5
No extra information is needed -- simply follow the instructions.
Additional Required Settings:
In order to prevent straining server resources and spam complaints that could cause Modwest administrators to temporarily disable your account, Modwest requires that you set up SendStudio with the following user configuration options:
- SMTP Server: 'listmail.modwest.com'
- E-mails per Hour: Maximum 1000
- You must also setup Bounce processing via the 'Manage Mailing List' interface. More information about that can be found in the Interspire Product Knowledgebase here.
- You must provide a prominent Unsubscribe link in every e-mail. Creating a Template is a good way to go about this. See page 35 of the SendStudio User Guide for more information creating and managing templates.
