Why won't MDTM work?

MDTM (last MoDification TiMe) can only be queried from the server. You cannot set the last modification time of a file on the server with this command.

The way to use the MDTM command is through an FTP command prompt. You must use the "quote" command in order to issue the "mdtm" command, like this at an FTP prompt:

ftp> quote mdtm filename
213 20020308215351

where the above in bold is the command you type or have your FTP client issue, and the line below that is the response from the server.

Our ProFTPd Server runs with the TimesGMT option set to "off" which means that file timestamps on the server will be localtime instead of Greenwich Mean Time.
