How do I get Shell access to the server?

We provide ssh access to the shared system and the hostname that you connect to: shell.modwest.com

If you don't an SSH client program installed on your own computer, you can choose one of these.

If you don't know what to do at a unix shell, see this quick reference or, for in-depth information for our default shell, bash, see the Bash Reference Manual.

Note that for security, you should always use SSH, not telnet!

For Mac Users to get a Terminal Window, doubleclick your HardDrive icon
on the Desktop, then doubleclick the applications folder, then the
Utilities folder, and finally the Terminal icon.
