Can I have access to my zone file?

You have complete control over the DNS for your domain.

You can access the DNS settings for your domain by using the "Manage DNS" link under the "Domains" heading in your OnSite control panel (http://my.modwest.com).

Or, you can simply login as the administrator here:
http://my.modwest.com/domains/dnstools.phtml

Should you need to create a subdomain for your site, you don't even need to access your zone file. You can create your own subdomains on the fly simply by creating a directory. By default your domain is set up to respond to yourdomain.com and www.yourdomain.com. This is because all your web documents go inside your "www" directory. There is also another directory softlinked to that one which catches all requests to yourdomain.com and sends them to the www directory. If you wanted stats.yourdomain.com, simply create a directory called "stats" in your htdocs directory. More information about how to create a subdomain with your account can be found here.

See also this FAQ for more on the proper directories to store your files in, and this FAQ for more on email, aliases and forwarding.

If you really need complete control of your own zonefile, you can do
your own DNS through one of these free DNS providers:

http://soa.granitecanyon.com/cgi-bin/publicdns.cgi/secondary
http://secondary.com/
http://www.zoneedit.com/
http://www.dyndns.org/mydyndns/secondary.shtml (requires one $20
donation)

Configure DNS for your domain with one or more of the above and then
edit your domain registration at your domain registrar to list those
nameservers instead of Modwest's nameservers. Then you'll have complete
control of your DNS.
